Description |
A port of an instance array can currently be connected in two ways. If the port expression is the same width as the port, then each instance port gets connected to the same port expression. If the port expression is a vector of the same width as the sum of the widths of the ports on all of the instances, then each instance gets a part-select of the port expression. Any other situation is an error. Another capability that would make instance arrays more useful is to allow specifying a port expression that is an array with the same number of elements as the instance array. This would attach one element of the array to each instance. Each element would still have to be a legal object to connect to the port. Unlike issue #55, this does not involve connecting entire arrays to a port of any individual instance. This connection scheme is sufficiently obvious that some users may already assume that it is supported. |
