ISSUE 236

Number 236
Category errata
Synopsis Table 30: Last line should be Concatenation of any of the above
State closed
Class superceded
Arrival-DateDec 29 2002
Originator Shalom.Bresticker@motorola.com
Release 2001b: 6 (Table 30)
Environment
See #75, 77
Description
Table 30 lists legal LHS for procedural assignments.

It says,

"Variables (vector or scalar)
Bit-select of a vector reg, integer, or time variable
Constant part select of a vector reg, integer, or time variable
Memory word
Indexed part select of a vector reg, integer, or time variable
Concatenation of regs; bit or part selects of regs"

The last line is too restrictive.
It should be,
"Concatentation of any of the above LHS",
as explained in 9.2.

(At the same time, for consistency, change the last line for
continuous assignments, to be the same,
"Concatentation of any of the above LHS",
instead of,
"Concatentation of any of the above four LHS".

This item supercedes issues #77.

However, it may itself be superceded afterwards by #75.
Fix

Close this issue as being superceded by #75.

It's not even complete to say "Concatenation of any of the above LHS", since
it is legal to have concatenations of concatenations (which aren't "above"
concatenations in the list).

Yes, that is issue #75.
